The red squirrel, known & loved by generations as Beatrix Potterās Squirrel Nutkin, is one of Britainās most favourite little mammals. With its bushy tail and beautiful red coat, the red squirrel is synonymous with Britainās countryside and is found in forests across the UK. Red squirrels are disappearing from our woodlands and are classified as an endangered species. This is mostly because of the North American grey squirrels that carry parapox, a virus deadly to our native squirrels.
